About
Hello: My name is Beth Hotchkiss!
I consider myself local to....
Truckee, CA
Liberty Lake, WA
& San Luis Obispo, CA (so far)

After graduating from Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo, I am now embracing all of the opportunities (and uncertainties) that come with post-graduation! This year, you can find me sipping chai, studying for the GRE, and sending out cover letters. 2018 will definitely be a year of hard work as I pursue my passions for the arts & sciences. Wish me luck as I embark on this interdisciplinary journey!
To keep up to date with my progress, you can read my blog. Or, if you like visuals, you can check out my photography. If you would rather escape into another world, I have some books that I could recommend too.
Best,
Beth Hotchkiss

FAQs
Where are you from?
When I was a kid, I bounced around a lot due to my parent's work. Right now I consider myself local to Liberty Lake, Washington and Sacramento, California. My sense of home is constantly changing over time!
What do you do for work?
In 2017, I graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. I then began working for the State of California where I'm currently serving as an information officer with the California Conservation Corps. My dream is to blend my love for science, art, and culture to make an impact.
How did you get started?
My father used to be the photographer in the family. He would make us stand for hours (actually 5 minutes) to get family photos. One day, I convinced him to let me have a go at it. I never gave the camera back!
What do you do for fun?
Aside from photography, I am currently learning acoustic guitar and getting back into improv comedy. I also love to cozy up on the couch with a good book. If anyone's looking for recommendations, I found "Astoria" fascinating!
What gear do you use?
I think great photography is less about the gear and more about the content. With that being said, I do have loads of fun playing with various cameras including my iPhone, Canon70D, Polaroid, and Minolta.
